Designing the checkout experience
3 things to customize on your checkout page:
The checkout page is the last stop in the buyer's journey. They've added the product to their cart and you're moments away from hearing that Shopify cha-ching notification when they make a purchase. You want to make the process as quick and easy as possible for your customers to add their information and check out. And the truth is, there's not a lot you can actually do to change your checkout page. Aside from security and other compliance rules, Shopify's own design team has expertly designed the checkout to be as optimized as possible.
They're seeing thousands of checkouts every minute, so they made sure the checkout flow is as user friendly as possible, as well. So, what should you do to make edits so you can be on-brand with your checkout page? Here are three recommendations I believe you should customize for your checkout page. Number one: upload your company logo. This simply conveys consistency between every page on your store.
Number two: change the colors of your checkout elements to match the ones with your store. This will also convey consistency and trust for an overall experience. Number three: change the fonts to be the same as your website, and be sure that your fonts are simple and easy to read. These are the three design elements I would recommend when designing out your checkout page. Ultimately, the goal is not to distract users.
You want them to put their information and click "Complete purchase." Google autocomplete and Shopify Pay also makes it simple for customers to speed through their checkout process.
